Collierville, Tenn. (November 12, 2012) – Sarah Peil, a senior at Collierville High School, has been named a C Spire Wireless Academic All-Stars Award winner.
Peil is one of six students in the Greater Memphis area who received this week’s award for Art. C Spire Wireless will recognize more than 160 students during the 2012-2013 school year. Peil and other weekly winners will be honored at a luncheon at the Hilton Memphis, Thursday, May 2, 2013.
Peil is an outstanding scholar and gifted artist. She holds a 4.52 weighted grade point average and scored 33 on the ACT and balances her academic coursework and volunteer work while remaining active and dedicated to her passion for the visual arts, especially painting in acrylics. Peil has been named a National Merit Commended Scholar and an AP Scholar with Distinction and ranks in the top 10 percent of her senior class and has taken 11 Advanced Placement classes.
For two years, Peil’s work has been displayed at Memphis International Airport and the Morton Museum in Collierville. She won the Seismic Design competition at the University of Memphis and has been offered a scholarship to the Memphis College of Art. Peil also has been accepted into the Fay Jones School of Architecture at the University of Arkansas. She regularly competes in the Scholastic Art and Writing competition, the Delta Fair and the West Tennessee Regional Student Art Exhibition.
The C Spire Wireless Academic All-Stars program was conceived to identify and recognize high school students for excellence in academics, school leadership and community service. Now in its 7th year, the C Spire Academic All-Stars Awards are presented weekly for 28 weeks during the academic year from nominations submitted by school administrators.
Judges include educators from Rhodes College, The University of Memphis, LeMoyne-Owen College and Christian Brothers University. Each Sunday during the year, C Spire Academic All-Stars are announced in The Commercial Appeal.
